Calico Ridge is on the edge of the Las Vegas Valley, surrounded by picturesque nature. It’s by far one of the best that Las Vegas has to offer. If golf is your passion, Calico Ridge is practically next door to Chimera Golf Club, an 18-hole desert golf course that features a practice facility, driving range, bar, and restaurant. It’s also close to the Reflection Bay Golf Club and SouthShore Country Club, both at Lake Las Vegas.

Calico Ridge Recreation

Calico Ridge is perfectly stationed for hiking, biking, and exploring nature. It backs up against the Clark County Wetlands Park at the edge of the valley’s eastern mountain ranges. The Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve is also right in the neighborhood. A few minutes further is the Sam Boyd Stadium and the New Silverbowl Park.

There are plenty of neighborhood parks around too, like the Mountain Lake Park with giant reptile sculptures to climb on, a playground, a bocce ball court, some horse tie-ups, picnic tables, and more.

There’s also Weston Hills Park with a ball field, courts for basketball and tennis, a dog park, picnic shelters, a splash pad, a playground, and walking trails. A little further you’ll find Rodeo Park that also comes with a ball field, basketball, courts for volleyball and tennis, an exercise course, walking trails, a playground, picnic shelters, and barbecues.

Calico Ridge is at the edge of the valley where two major freeways intersect, giving it convenient access to recreational amenities throughout the area. The nearby Lake Las Vegas is an upscale getaway for the afternoon, while the larger Lake Mead is the perfect place for a weekend day trip, where you can enjoy boating, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, or other water activities. The Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area is another option for exploring the great outdoors.

The Off Road Vehicle Park by Loki Loop Trail at the foot of College Drive gives residents plenty of opportunities for playing around with your ATV, while the McCullough Hills Trailhead gives easy access to the 8-mile McCullough Hills Trail. This multi-purpose hiking path winds through the Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area to Anthem, offering incredible views of Henderson’s mountains to the east, Red Rock Canyon to the west, and the sparkling beauty of Las Vegas lights to the north.

Another nearby popular recreation spot is River Mountains Loop Trail, an ambitious 34-mile outdoor recreational gem that offers scenic views, tons of wildlife, and glimpses of the Mojave Desert’s vast beauty. You can ride your bike, hike or walk your dog on this impressive trail that connects the Lake Mead National Recreation Area, Hoover Dam, Boulder City, and other parts of the Las Vegas Valley.

Calico Ridge Schooling

Calico Ridge kids are zoned for highly-rated southeast CCSD schools: C.T. Sewell Elementary School, Josh Stevens Elementary School, B. Mahlon Brown Academy of International Studies, and Basic Academy of International Studies.

There are also the nearby top-rated free public charter schools, Coral Academy of Science Las Vegas – Eastgate Campus, and Pinecrest Academy Cadence. If you prefer a private school option, the community is near Lake Mead Christian Academy.
