Central Las Vegas Real Estate

Living in Central Las Vegas puts you in the heart of one of the most iconic cities in the world. The homes here have a historic charm and played an important role in the creation of this entertainment mainstay.

It’s close to Downtown Las Vegas (DTLV), which forms the backbone of the Vegas creation story. To this day, DTLV continues to offer gaming, cocktails, entertainment and everything that made Vegas “Vegas,” but with a totally different spin than the more modern Strip. Central Las Vegas is equally close to both, so it’s essentially where Old Vegas and New Vegas come together.

Central Las Vegas Living

Central Las Vegas is located in the middle of the valley, southeast of Downtown and northeast of the Las Vegas Strip. So you can enjoy the arts and culture and nightlife of Las Vegas, and then retreat to your own private oasis.

Downtown Las Vegas

Downtown Las Vegas covers about 110 acres and is made up of several neighborhoods, all with a distinct feel. While the entertainment and attractions appeal to out-of-towners as well, this is really where locals go for fun.

Fremont Street: Fremont Street is the main thoroughfare of old downtown, and now houses the covered Fremont Street Experience. This covered pedestrian mall attracts an eclectic mix of characters and street performers, and offers access to classic casinos like the Four Queens, The D, the Golden Gate, the Golden Nugget and Binion’s, each one a favorite of locals.

Fremont East: Across Las Vegas Blvd you’ll find the neon glitz of the newly created hipster paradise Fremont East, home to the Downtown Container Park open-air shopping center and classic watering holes like the El Cortez Hotel & Casino, Atomic Liquors, and the Commonwealth with its speakeasy Laundry Room. Dining options are decidedly hip in this neighborhood, and whatever cuisine you’re craving, there’s a trendy version of it here, from sushi to Thai to American to modern twists on pizza.

Arts District: The galleries and studios of the Arts District form the epicenter to the monthly First Friday Las Vegas arts and culture festival, the Smith Center, and the hip Symphony Park. This is where Las Vegas proves it’s not just a glitzy tourist town, but a bona fide arts hub and a world-class Broadway of the Southwest.

Museum District: If you want to learn more about the city’s history, don’t miss museum attractions like The Mob Museum, where you can witness firsthand how the city used to operate with crime and punishment; the Neon Museum and Boneyard, where every historic neon sign comes to light up the sky for eternity; the Las Vegas Natural History Museum, where you can see artifacts from before the city was even conceived; and the Children’s Discovery Museum, where interactive displays let little ones learn while they have fun.

The Las Vegas Strip

Downtown is where Las Vegas began, but The Strip is what attracts visitors from across the globe. Here’s where the city goes all out to put on an impressive show, from the casinos to the nightclubs to the restaurants and entertainment.

North Strip: Just south of DTLV, this is a more historic area of The Strip, with classic resorts like The Stratosphere, The Sahara, Circus Circus, Wynn and Encore, and the new Resorts World. This is also where you’ll find the Fashion Show Mall with upscale shopping and dining experiences.

Central Strip: The middle of The Strip is home to world-famous European-inspired resorts like The Bellagio, Caesars Palace, Paris, The Venetian and Palazzo. You’ll also find newer resorts like The LINQ, Harrah’s, Planet Hollywood, The Cosmopolitan and ARIA, and historic hotels like The Mirage and The Flamingo.

South Strip: At the bottom end of The Strip you’ll find the established mainstays like the MGM Grand, New York New York, the Excalibur and Tropicana. At every casino resort, top-notch entertainment and dining options give you a memorable night out.

Central Las Vegas Amenities

Besides the shopping, dining and entertainment, Central Las Vegas offers plenty of other amenities. The Valley is home to numerous championship golf courses with challenging terrains and breathtaking views of the city. But just within Central Las Vegas, you’ll find three popular golfing facilities: the Las Vegas National Golf Course, the Las Vegas Country Club and the Wynn Golf Club.

Wynn Golf Club

The Wynn Golf Club is one of the more expensive courses around, but it offers an exclusive experience Las Vegas Wynn resorts are known for. From lush greens to rushing streams, this 18-hole championship course doesn’t even feel like the desert. It was originally designed in 2005 by legendary golf architect Tom Fazio, and recently redesigned by Tom and his son Logan Fazio.

Built to challenge golfers of every skill level, Wynn Golf Club is a par-70 championship length course with elevation changes previously unheard of on the Las Vegas Strip. It has over 8,000 trees, with many being more than 70 years old and over 60 feet tall.

Las Vegas Country Club

The Las Vegas Country Club is a popular residential community for entertainers and the elite. Right in the heart of Las Vegas, it’s the longest standing Country Club in the city, being established in 1967. While many structures in Vegas get demolished to make room for something new, the Las Vegas Country Club has stood the test of time.

The manicured and sprawling course was designed by the legendary Ed Ault, and includes a stunning clubhouse with patio overlooking a park-like setting.

Las Vegas National Golf Course

Usually just called “The National”, the traditional Las Vegas National Golf Club has a rich history. It was designed in 1961 by architect Bert Stamps, and has been used in several Hollywood movies. The classic 18-hole par-71 championship golf course is challenge yet fun for golfers of all skill levels. It features thousands of trees, sand bunkers and water hazards to protect the course’s lush fairways.

The National prides itself on customer service, enjoyable pace of play, and a celebrated golf course that has hosted several LPGA & PGA events including the Tournament of Champions, Sahara Invitational, and the Las Vegas Invitational.

Paradise Recreation Center

You don’t have to join a golf club for your fitness needs, because there are lots of other options around, including the Paradise Recreation Center. This rec center offers classes, activities, field trips and clubs for participants of all ages, as well as ball fields, a basketball court, fitness course, children’s playground, large mature shade trees, and a seasonal pool.

Paradise Recreation Center’s fitness room offers a variety of modern equipment, including treadmills, stationary bikes, elliptical machines, free weight machines, dumbbells, and weight resistance machines.

Natural Escapes

Southern Nevada’s mild desert temperatures mean outdoor recreation is available year-round, and usually quite close. Within a 20-mile radius of Central Las Vegas you’ll find the Sloan Canyon National Conservation Area, Clark County Wetlands Park, Lake Las Vegas and the Whitney Mesa Nature Preserve.

Just a little further afield brings you to the shores of Lake Mead, the Colorado River recreation area, the amazing Hoover Dam (named one of the Seven Industrial Wonders of the World), the 12,000-foot Mount Charleston with its hiking trails and ski slopes, and countless opportunities to encounter sandstone landscapes and red rock mountains. And when you want to fly to your destination, you’re 10 minutes away from Harry Reid International Airport, your gateway to any locale worldwide.

Central Las Vegas is an incredible place to visit, and an even more incredible place to call home. Don’t overlook the options here when considering your next community to live in.

What is Central Las Vegas?

Central Las Vegas is the area north of the 215 and south of Downtown, covering both sides of the Las Vegas Strip. There is not a lot of land left for new home development and most of the homes are historic gems older than 10 years. The price range of the homes for sale in Central Las Vegas runs from very affordable up to high-end luxury.

There are a couple of unique groupings of homes that were built many years ago on large plots of land. One area is located west of Harry Reid Airport between Hacienda and Russell. The other is east of Las Vegas Blvd and north of the 215. Many of these homes are suitable as horse properties.
