As Las Vegas grows, some of the most prolific new home expansion has been in the northwest part of Las Vegas. This encompasses both sides of Highway 95 from Lake Mead Blvd to Kyle Canyon road. The area is a mix of older homes and new developments like Acadia and Rainier at Skye Canyon.
If you are heading to the Air Force stations at Creech or Nellis, NW Las Vegas is the perfect area to live in with short commute times. If you work in the city, the commute is getting faster and easier.
NDOT’s Project NEON is widening almost 4 miles of Interstate 15 between Sahara Avenue and the “Spaghetti Bowl” interchange in downtown Las Vegas. This is the busiest stretch of highway in Nevada with approximately 300,000 vehicles each day — which is one-tenth of the state’s population — seeing 25,000 lane changes an hour. Traffic through this corridor is projected to double by 2035.
Access to the 95 and the NW corner of the 215 Beltway is also currently being improved with new highway construction.
The NW Las Vegas community is home to Floyd Lamb Park, an impressive 2,040-acre park centered on Tule Springs, a series of small natural lakes that formed a true oasis in this part of the Mojave Desert.
Here you’ll encounter wildlife, lush vegetation, lakes and fantastic views of the Sheep and Spring Mountain Ranges. Tucked away inside the park is the historic Tule Springs Ranch, which demonstrates the lifestyle and mechanics of a traditional working ranch in early Las Vegas.
Floyd Lamb Park offers a number of programs, from a self-guided tour to facilities for birthday parties and special events. Amenities include picnic areas, historic areas, walking and jogging paths, a hay barn, mountain bike trails and a pump track for BMX bike riders. Fishing is allowed if you have a license from the Nevada Department of Wildlife. The park is also home to the Nevada Division of Forestry State Tree Nursery.
If you want a more intimate outdoor experience, Centennial Hills Park is just south of Floyd Lamb. This still sizeable 120-acre local park offers a selection of playgrounds, dog runs, picnic areas, volleyball, soccer, walking trails and more. If even that’s too big for your current mood, the community is filled with a plethora of smaller neighborhood parks and green belts as well.
NW Las Vegas also features The Clark County Shooting Complex, the largest shooting facility in the United States at a whopping 2,900 acres. This 5-star outdoor shooting facility offers public trap, skeet, sporting clays and 5-stand shooting with classes and firearm rentals available. The Shooting Complex hosts multiple special events at the Shotgun Center throughout the year, including tournaments, matches, classes and discounted promotional opportunities.
One of the most majestic golf clubs in the area, the Las Vegas Paiute Golf Resort features three distinctive layouts designed by World Golf Hall of Fame Inductee and Lifetime Achievement Award Recipient, Pete Dye. “One-of-a-Kind can now come in Threes” is the over-arching theme behind the trio of courses: Snow Mountain, Sun Mountain and WOLF. Each of the three are infused with Dye’s signature elements, like railroad tie bunkers and dramatic slope changes, ensuring each course gives the golfer a unique experience.
While it contains all the amenities and privacy of a remote getaway, the breathtaking Paiute Golf Resort is just 25 minutes northwest of the world-famous Las Vegas Strip. The facility also boasts gorgeous event venues with floor-to-ceiling glass windows, strategically positioned against the backdrop of lush greens and sparkling lakes. Whatever the occasion, from weddings to corporate retreats and casual festivities, Paiute’s professional team of event coordinators offer a first-class experience.
The Grove Wedding Venue, a hidden jewel with two outdoor wedding ceremony options beneath lighted trees and two indoor reception halls, is another impressive event choice in the area.
The NW Las Vegas community also has convenient access to the Las Vegas Motor Speedway, the massive racetrack facility that plays host NASCAR, drag racing, special events, fan racing experiences and tours.
